Frequently Asked Questions
How do we know if couples counseling is a good fit?
If you feel stuck in repetitive arguments or have drifted apart, counseling offers a safe place to discuss the challenges and reconnect. Couples therapy is a great fit for partners who are willing to look at their own internal patterns with curiosity while also being committed to improving the relationship dynamic.
What if my partner is unsure about starting?
It is common for one partner to feel more hesitant than the other. I suggest attending a consultation together to discuss these uncertainties. Seeing therapy as a collaborative exploration rather than a place of judgment often helps ease these initial concerns. I don't look at behaviors and judge them as right or wrong. I ask what compels someone to behave they way they do and how we can help that person get what they need in a way that is more connected to their partner and themselves.
Do you take sides?
My role is to help you understand yourselves and how parts of you might be contributing to patterns of disconnection in your relationship. I help both of you understand the 'parts' that show up in conflict, fostering a neutral space where each person's perspective feels heard and valued.
Will you meet with us individually?
No. If one partner is unable to make a session then we will reschedule. Also, it is important that information shared with me is available to both partners. There may be times when this is difficult to do but I will help guide this process and provide a compassionate, calm and safe opportunity to do so. I will also work to identify a path towards repair when potentially destabilizing information is shared.
Logistics & Appointments
Where are you located?
I provide in-person sessions at my in-home office in Exeter, NH. For those who prefer the convenience of their own space, I also offer secure telehealth sessions to clients living anywhere across New Hampshire.
What are your hours?
My first session is at 9am and my last session is at 3pm, M-F.
What is your cancellation policy?
Because your session time is reserved specifically for you, I require at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling. This allows me to offer the time to other clients who may be waiting for support. Late cancellations or missed appointments incur the full session fee.
How often will we meet?
Most couples benefit from meeting once a week, especially in the early stages of our work. This consistency helps build a strong foundation of safety for your internal system. As progress is made, we may move to bi-weekly sessions.
Fees and Insurance
What are your session fees?
Each 55-minute session is billed at $170. Longer sessions for intensive couples work or deep IFS processing are available upon request and prorated accordingly.
Do you take insurance?
Couples counseling is not covered by health insurance plans. For a detailed explanation click here.
Can I use my HSA/FSA funds?
Please contact your card administrator to determine if our work would be eligible for payment using this method.
